Her parents are Harvey Welker who is Native American as well as Julie Welker who is African-American. Her mother is an agent for real estate, and her father has a degree in engineering. Walker has completed her studies at the Germantown Friends School (Germantown Area) in Philadelphia where she graduated in 1994. She went to Harvard College, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts degree. Welker has been married for over 20 years with John Hughes who is a famous marketing director at Merck Philadelphia. They are parents to two kids. They started an relationship in the year 2014. John was her husband. He's four years older than she.
